Beautiful, bright red-skinned roots with refined flattened shape and mild salad flavor.
Unlike most turnip greens, these are not at all hairy or fuzzy. Smooth, tasty leaves often have red-to-purple coloration as well.
BOTANICAL NAME: Brassica rapa
Plant seed directly, or start in flats and transplant carefully 4" apart in deeply dug, rock free soil that is loose and well-composted. Water and weed seedlings until established, then requires little care. Greens are smooth and hairless, excellent for greens. Roots for fresh use and pickling, not keepers.
