Cold-hardy and easy to grow.
Yellow peas with pale tan skin store easily and cook rapidly into soup.
If your season is too short or cold for growing beans to store, try these.
BOTANICAL NAME: Pisum sativum
Soak seed before planting or water well. Peas are hardy but cannot take heat, so plant as early as the soil can be worked. For wintering over, plant in late summer/early fall. Plant on 4" centers in well drained soil. Plant ¼" deep and keep the soil cool and moist. Assure adequate calcium, phosphorous, and potash. Inoculant increases yield. When pods yellow, allow them to dry on the vine, unless very wet weather threatens, in which case cut whole plants and dry under cover.
