Arctic King Butterhea...
this is bred for winter growth and resistance to the rots and mildew that wet winter weather can bring.
Vigorous and fast-growing, to outgrow pest, diseases, and weather. Good choice for coldframes.
BOTANICAL NAME: Lactuca sativa
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Start in flats or direct seed. This variety is intended for fall planting, usually in August or Spetember in most places. Sprouting is enhanced if you put the packet in the fridge for a week before planting. Fertile, composted soil in good tilth with adequate nitrogen, calcium, and moisture promotes fast growth for best flavor. Weather is still very hot, use shade cloth or plant to the east of tall plants that will be gone when weather gets cold. Excellent for greenhouse or coldframe.
