Nozaki Early Chinese ... VGR-3677
Super fast-growing, with frilly, heads
of crunchy mild salad-quality leaves. We asked a local market gardener to try this out, and the next season she called to ask "Where can I get some more of that seed?" For extra-early harvest, or last minute late plantings. Quality greens in a hurry.
BOTANICAL NAME: Brassica rapa chinensis
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:Direct-Sow in fall or extremely early spring. If weather is hot, give shade. Provide adequate moisture, fertility, and lime if needed. Difficult spring crop except in southern latitides. Surpisingly cold-hardy, and will survive quite cold winters if given protection. Sow in succession, unless wanted all at once for kimchee or sale. Slugs love it--be sure to patrol often, use bait, or edge beds with copper.
