BOTANICAL NAME: Brassica oleracea

Start seeds in flats very early in spring for early summer harvest, or 6+ weeks before first fall hard frost for winter harvest. Like a cabbage, does best in good soil for rapid growth, best with later fertilization. Best to keep moist, but fairly drought-tolerant. Likes full sun. Shallow cultivate for first few weeks. Harvest pull tender top leaves or harvest the whole plant.
