giving a heavy crop of sprouts from top to bottom of the stalk.
Ready by mid-autumn, stands to early winter. Refined European selection of an heirloom.
BOTANICAL NAME: Br. Oleracea v. gemmifera
Time planting to mature around fall frost, which improves flavor and vitamins-mid to late summer planting in most areas. To keep plants free of disease, be careful to avoid overwatering or using uncomposted manure. Needs adequate calcium (lime) and plenty of compost. As sprouts begin to touch, remove lower leaves carefully and pinch tops to encourage side growth. Harvest sprouts from the bottom up. Staking is advised.
