Crisp pods stay tender and sweet.
We consider this the best tasting bush bean.
Heirloom from the 1800's, also called Dragon Langerie. Flat, creamy, 8" yellow pods with thin purple stripes (which disappear with cooking). Impossible for commercial production, as the pods are so juicy that they wilt when shipped.
Heavy producer. Excellent raw.
BOTANICAL NAME: Phaseolus vulgaris
Start in flats/pots or seed direct in sunny location after soil reaches at least 60F. Using Garden Combo inoculant produces nitrogen in the soil and can increase yields. Plant 1" deep and 6" apart in well-dug soil, not too acid. Sow every 2-3 weeks through mid-summer for continuous supply. Keep well wedded or cultivate shallowly-roots are near the surface. Do not let pods stay on the plant after they are edible size, or the plant will stop producing, so pick often.
