The familiar chickpeas;
large tan round beans used in salads and soups or mashed to make hummus and falafel.
Used in Indian cuisine, called Chana Dal. These can also be steamed green and served like edamame.BOTANICAL NAME: Ccer arietinum
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:Sow outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and soil temperature is above 65F. Likes rich, light, sandy, well-drained soil that has been well fertilized. Best to inoculate with nitrogen-fixing bacteria before planting. Cover seeds with 1" of soil and keep it well watered both as a seedling and as a plant. Germination takes about a week. Sorry, we do not have certified organic seed available at this time, but this seed is untreated, non-hybrid, and non-GMO as are all our seeds.
