Calypso ( Yin-Yang, O...
We are so tickled to offer these popular beans,
which look just like a yin-yang symbol, even down to the little dot!
Mild flavor and almost potato-like texture make this Caribbean bean adaptable to different flavors. Widely adapted to both cool, short summers (our seed's from the Pacific Northwest) and Caribbean heat.
BOTANICAL NAME: Phaseolus vulgaris
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:Plant 6" apart directly in the garden when frost is past. Beans prefer a well-worked, neutral soil and plenty of organic matter. Harvest dry beans by picking when beans are fully formed and pods just begin to dry; this maximizes harvest and minimizes problems with bugs. Can also cut whole plants, hang under cover, and thresh when dry by stomping on them on a tarp, and wind or fan winnowing. Seed was grown without chemicals.
