Seeds need to be scratched with sandpaper and soaked in hot water before planting in pots outdoors. Needs moist chilling period in refrigerator or outdoors for 3 months. Start in pots for first year, then transplant to a larger pot for another year, then plant. Generally prepare the tree's permanent spot as you would any perennial crop. Likes a sunny, well-drained location, mulched with compost to add fertility and smother weeds.
