GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Seeds need a moist chilling period I na dark place before they will sprout-a jar with something moist (moss, cotton) but not wet, stored in the refrigerator (not freezer) for 4-6 weeks will do this. Or, plant in a one-gallon pot and set outside in the fall, leaving the pot outside for germination the next spring. Prepare the permanent spot as you would any perennial crop. Hawthorn is adaptable and tough, thriving in sun to light shade.
