BOTANICAL NAME: Thymus vulgaris
Start seeds in flats in the spring and transplant 6" apart into an area in the garden with light, well-limed soil and full sun. In heavy soil or high-rainfall areas, planting in gravel or rocks mixed with compost and soil can help winter survival. Seedlings are slow to grow. Plants will be most productive and long-lived if harvested often-use freely and clip back in June and again in August. Replant every 3 to 4 years. This is a perennial that grows to a height of 12".
