Migraine preventative. Leaves eaten one or two a day, or made into a tincture or syrup.Easy to grow in most soil conditions. Self-sows.
BOTANICAL NAME: Chrysanthemum parthenium
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Start seeds in flats in early spring or in summer for fall planting; needs light to germinate so cover thinly. Keep the soil moist and at about 70 degrees for the 2 weeks that are needed for germination. Or direct-sow after soil warms. This perennial grows well in full to partial sun. Harvest top half of plant as flowering begins, and dry in the shade. Or use leaves as needed. For low hedges, clip back to keep compact. Reseeds readily.
