Hardy to -20F.

Dainty plant with lacy leaves and daisy flowers, fast-growing, compact, and often used in herb and flower beds, or as a beneficial insect attractor in vegetable beds.

Migraine preventative. Leaves eaten one or two a day, or made into a tincture or syrup.

Easy to grow in most soil conditions. Self-sows.

BOTANICAL NAME: Chrysanthemum parthenium

Start seeds in flats in early spring or in summer for fall planting; needs light to germinate so cover thinly. Keep the soil moist and at about 70 degrees for the 2 weeks that are needed for germination. Or direct-sow after soil warms. This perennial grows well in full to partial sun. Harvest top half of plant as flowering begins, and dry in the shade. Or use leaves as needed. For low hedges, clip back to keep compact. Reseeds readily.

works well, easy to grow
on 12/27/14 by Walkin Customer

Sprouted easily in soil, by winter they were large, strong, healthy bushes despite my foraging on them. Our go to plant for migraines, which is also rather pretty. Only needed additional water during our very long dry summer in the southwest extreme drought. Other than that summer occasional watering, Ive otherwise neglected the plants yet they are doing wonderful.
