5-8' tall and very productive, for syrup, grain, and compost.
Although the grain is not as mild-flavored as varieties bred for just that purpose.
Dale is invaluable as a multi-purpose variety.
Can be used to make gluten-free beer. Does well in northern or mountain climates.
BOTANICAL NAME : Sorghum bicolor
Cultivate similar to corn. Plant when the soil is warm. Likes a rich garden soil that has been well-prepared but does well in most soils that have a neutral pH. Plant ¼" deep and 7" apart. Good drainage and full sun are important. Sorghum is self-pollinating so they don't have to be planted in blocks (as corn does) but please note it will cross pollinate - if you were thinking of saving seed.
