Abundant 2” wide flowers great for cutting, as a companion plant with vegetables, summer screen, or in the flower garden. Doesn’t require much water or good soil--easy to grow. Can be direct sown once the soil warms.
BOTANICAL NAME: Cosmos sulphureus
May start seed in flats, or direct-sow where it is to grow. Does well at the edges of vegetable and corn beds, drawing pollinators. Transplant 18" apart to an area (preferably) with full sun, though it can tolerate partial shade. Cosmos is quick-growing and self-seeds. It can grow in poor soil, but does best in rich soil. Remove spent blossoms to promote continuous bloom. Staking is suggested if soil is rich and moist. Cosmos is a half-hardy annual that grows to a height of 2-3'.
