Baby Blue Eyes FBA-8655
The gorgeous sky blue of forget-me-nots,
but with individual flowers five times as big and flowers the first year from seed.
Quick spring bloomer.Easy to grow; just scatter seed in place. In nature, these sprout with the winter rains and overwinter as a rosette of leaves, then burst into growth and bloom in early spring. Native California wildflower, now grown and loved worldwide. Excellent in hanging baskets-clouds of ethereal sky-blue flowers all summer. Give some shade in hot summer climates. Low-growing plants make a spectacular carpet under tall shrubs, around bulbs, cascading down walls. Shear back for rebloom, or interplant with a heat-lover for later. Great results with little effort.
BOTANICAL NAME: Nemophila menziesii
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Direct-seed where it is to bloom, or in flats or pots for transplant to containers, hanging baskets, or garden. Not fussy about soil. Sow in very early spring; in its native California, it may be fall-sown for growth with the winter rains. Will need to be sown early enough in the year for two months of moisture, or given supplemental water. Quick bloomer-two months or so from seed. Will rebloom if sheared back and watered. Or succession-sow for longest bloom.
