Just right for my garden
on 02/17/15 by Charlene Carney

Ive ordered this and from the description it is just what I need for my garden. I live in Alaska and my soil is silty loam. Its not very conducive to gardening as it tends to compact and hold water on the surface too long. Ive worked with it for a few years and it is better but I still need that extra nitrogen and something to keep the soil broken up so I dont disturb my mycorrhizae and worms. So this year after putting down about 4 inches of compost and another 2 inches of wood chips I will sow the entire two high tunnels in alfalfa for next year. Im excited.

I am growing it in the bee hive area. I live in the high desert of California and thought it might be an early spring source of food for them. However, it didnt really come up and start flowering until early May. It is a beautiful plant and quite big - almost four feet tall and about three foot wide so you dont need many in a small space.
