Save yourself a lot of work with cover crops.

It's not too late for the hardiest, fastest-growing flowers and veggies, either.

Planted in September or October, they all hold soil, save your precious soil fertility from loss through rain and wind, prevent weeds, and make compost material for next spring. The legumes add nitrogen to the soil for next year's crops. The grains sequester carbon from the air to enrich your soil.
