The Earliest of the Early

We've picked some of the fastest, most tender crops to put

freshness on your table in a hurry.

What can I plant that will give me the fastest results? This page is full of answers. Here we feature varieties eaten young as the very first harvest of the season. If you plant another, later variety at the same time, you will get food over a long period.  To find those main-season varieties, go to the seeds listings.

This is the earliest of the early. All of the peas, for example, should be planted now, and all of them will give you an early crop. But in this page, we will just give suggestions for the very fastest. Others  will provide a longer harvest, or special quality.
Any vegetable you see here is spring-planted in general, and you can find more choices with more extended maturity times if you go to the regular vegetable listings. Let us know if you find this curated selection useful, or if you would prefer our seasonal sections to list every possible choice for that time of year. We love to hear from you!
